Preacher Tony Alamo Convicted on Child-Sex Charges; Faces 175 Years
Some months after our story ran, the preacher's Arkansas compound was raided and six minors found therein removed and placed in protective custody. Shortly thereafter Alamo was charged under the Mann Act. Today a jury in Texarkana found Alamo guilty on taking little girls across state lines for sex.
"I'm just another one of the prophets that went to jail for the Gospel," Alamo told reporters afterwards. He could get up to 175 years in prison on the 10 counts.
