Pride Week Gay-Bash Victim's Story Gets Around; Police Sketch Released

Joe Holladay, gay-bashed during Pride Weekend, at first worried that his assault wasn't being taken seriously. But things have turned around considerably since we first reported his beating. The Times, the Post, 1010 WINS, WCBS-TV, Fox, and NY1 have all followed the story, and a police sketch of one of the attackers (pictured) has been released. The gay press is on top of it, too, and also on a related incident: the beating, with similar epithets, of transgender woman Leslie Mora in Queens in June 19. Arrests have been made in that case; Holladay's assailants are at large. Justine Nicholas Valinotti considers the perils of LGBTQ life in the outer boroughs at Transwoman Times.
