Stella D'Oro Strikers, Locked Out in the Bronx, Ordered Back to Work by NLRB

breakfasttreats.jpg
Labor, management, and the occasional politician have been trying to negotiate a settlement to the Stella D'oro factory strike in the Bronx since last summer. It didn't help that the factory replaced 134 striking workers with what in a simpler time would be known as scabs. In addition to holding large demonstrations, the workers took their case to the National Labor Relations Board, which today ordered all the ousted workers reinstated. The judge found that the factory's owners, Brynwood Partners, had no good cause to fire the workers, particularly since they had offered to come back to work without conditions. Bear in mind, the strikers have not been striking for raises, but to keep Brynwood from cutting their pay and benefits to finance their "reorganization."
