Times: Paterson Will Name a Lt. Governor in Tonight's Speech (UPDATE: Is It Ravitch?)

patersonpitches.jpgFudge. The New York Times has a source that says Governor David Paterson is indeed going to name a Lieutenant Governor in his 5 p.m. speech. The move, as previously mentioned, is constitutionally controversial, at least to the state's attorney general, but we guess Paterson got sick of Andrew "How's your poll numbers? Mine are great!" Cuomo and just said fuck him; history will absolve the move if it gets the damn state senate moving again. The downside: now we have to watch the damn speech.

Update: Richard Ravitch? Smart move if so -- he's the guy whose MTA bailout plan wasn't picked, so he looks good by comparison. Though we were kind of hoping for Eliot Spitzer.
