Fudge. The New York Times
has a source that says Governor David Paterson is indeed going to name a Lieutenant Governor
in his 5 p.m. speech
. The move, as previously mentioned, is constitutionally controversial
, at least to the state's attorney general, but we guess Paterson got sick of Andrew "How's your poll numbers? Mine are great!" Cuomo
and just said fuck him; history will absolve the move if it gets the damn state senate moving again. The downside: now we have
to watch the damn speech.
Update: Richard Ravitch? Smart move if so -- he's the guy whose MTA bailout plan wasn't picked, so he looks good by comparison. Though we were kind of hoping for Eliot Spitzer.
