Upset Over Breakup, Dumbass Kidnaps, Beats Girlfriend, Is Arrested

Dwayne Saunders, 29, of Far Rockaway had been going out with a special someone, 23, from Uniondale, Long Island for a little over a year and a half. But there was trouble in the relationship. For one thing, she changed her cell phone number. For another, he sometimes beat her, and she had called the cops on him. So on Tuesday Saunders went to the vocational school the girl attended to talk it over and also, when words failed, to shove her into his SUV and drive off with her.

Investigators fanned out. The girl was able to call her mother briefly from the Tropicana Hotel in Atlantic City, which must have a hell of a relaxed admittance policy, to say she had been kidnapped and beaten. Cops later discovered Saunders had returned to New York, and chased him awhile before he turned up in his old Far Rockaway stomping grounds yesterday, and charged him with first- and second-degree kidnapping and second-degree assault. His victim was recovered with "black eyes, facial swelling and a possible broken nose," says the Long Island Press. She does not appear to have been sexually assaulted.
