Bill Bratton Leaves L.A., Comes to New York to Work Security

We were wondering why LAPD Chief Bill Bratton came all the way to New York to speak up for Manhattan D.A. candidate Richard Aborn the other day. We knew he was an Aborn supporter, but didn't he have business at home to attend? Now it appears the former NYPD Commish will be spending more time here. He's resigning from the Los Angeles force and taking a job with private security firm Altegrity, heading up a new unit of the Virginia-based company, Altegrity Security Consulting (ASC), here in New York.

Bratton is said to have been lured by Altegrity chief Michael Cherkasky, whom Bratton met while at the NYPD, and who gave him some work before he took the Los Angeles job.

The Post hopefully suggests Bratton run against Kirsten Gillibrand for the Senate next year. What, and take a pay cut? Security Management calls Bratton's new job a "plum position."
