Bureau of Prisons: Post Full of Shit, Madoff Doesn't Have Cancer
Bernie Madoff is "dying of cancer, sources told The Post," and the New York Post told the world. An inmate said he took 20 pills for cancer -- maybe painkillers, maybe laetrile. Plus he'd participated in a Native-American sweat lodge, and why would anyone do that unless he were dying of cancer?
It was not simple laziness nor our general disinterest alone that kept us off this story, and now the Federal Bureau of Prisons informs Bloomberg that Madoff does not have cancer, nor any other terminal illness, and that the Post story is "full of inaccuracies." No other person in a position to know is willing to say anything on record.
