Manhattan D.A. Candidates Scramble for Gay Support
![]() |
Duane says he met with all three contenders but Vance's "25 years of experience on both sides of the criminal justice system and long record of fighting for progressive values are unmatched in this race." He also believes Vance will "focus new attention on the underserved LGBT community -- my community -- by protecting us from hate crimes and preventing domestic violence within our community."
Not to be outgayed, Aborn's people rushed to tell us that he has a load of LGBT endorsers...
These include assembly members Deborah Glick and Danny O'Donnell, and gay groups such as GLID (Gay and Lesbian Independent Democrats), which club has strong ties to Duane. And the Advocate has noted Aborn's "early and prominent support from the LGBT community."
Aborn won the GLID endorsement by one vote over Leslie Crocker-Snyder, and has the backing of the Stonewall Democratic Club. So, you see, there's plenty of gay love to go around, even in a tight race.
