TransAlt Celebrates New DUMBO Bike Path Where Member Cracked Up

sandsstreet.jpg
In 2005 Transportation Alternatives' Noah Budnick hit a pothole on Sands Street in DUMBO and cracked up badly. So he and the rest of TransAlt are especially happy to see the Sands Street bike path completed, affording bikers coming on and off the Manhattan Bridge, or just tooling around the nabe, a less dangerous ride. So when it opens tonight at 6:30 p.m., they'll join councilmember Tish James and representatives of the Department of Transportation for a ride/photo op on what they like to call the "Budnick Bikeway." The path runs between Navy Street and Jay Street. The ride will meet at the foot of the bridge. Photo (cc) dirtycrumbs.
