Queens Visitor Still Suspected in Terror Plot

zazi.jpgNajibullah Zazi, the Colorado man whose visit to New York prompted raids on three Queens apartments, and who had maintained his innocence of terror plotting in the press, is not off the hook. The Daily News says his lawyers are negotiating with the feds: they propose Zazi admit to receiving bomb training in Pakistan, but deny intending to use it here in the States in furtherance of terror. Nonetheless the FBI continues to pursue leads in a case against Zaza and his buddies, who are suspected of malign intent bomb-wise. Zazi apparently ran up a big credit card debt and went bankrupt in Colorado, so with his airport-shuttle-driving and coffee cart empire in collapse, there was little keeping him from pursuing a new career as a terrorist.
