Country Boys/Martinez Taco Truck, which describes its food as "traditional mexican/puebla," took the top prize (the Vendy Cup) at this year's Vendy Awards at the Queens Museum. The winning vendors spend their week at the Red Hook ball field and their weekends at the Brooklyn Flea on Lafayette. Second-time winner Biryani Cart took the Grey Poupon People's Taste Award, and Schnitzel and Things took Rookie of the Year.

Wafels and Dinges, which took Best Dessert, is currently seeking a permit for a cart in Flushing Meadow Park, where the awards were held. Owner Thomas DeGeest says that his waffles are a recreation of the belgian waffles sold at the 1964 World's Fair, which was held in the park. His next opportunity to apply is in October.
