Cuomo Says Non-Profit Health Care Database Ready Soon

andycuomoleft.jpg Andrew Cuomo says that new non-profit health care database for New Yorkers will be up and running soon. Back in January Cuomo muscled health insurance companies to pony up millions to make good for the Ingenix scandal -- in which the UnitedHealth Group-run info company was found to be providing less-than-helpful out-of-network advisement to its users. The new database, called FAIR Health and run by Syracuse University and others, will give health care consumers a better accounting of their options, says Cuomo.

If you were worried that this Big Gummint intrusiveness would harm the providers involved, don't be: UnitedHealth, Aetna, WellPoint, et alia are doing just fine.
