The latest man arrested on terrorism charges is Tarek Mehanna of Sudbury, Massachusetts. He is charged with providing material support to terrorists by flying around the jihad world in pursuit of terror training and automatic weapons, and planning to shoot up a mall. Prosecutors say he also wanted to kill U.S. soldiers in Iraq and "one or two members of the executive branch of the U.S. government," though they didn't say which ones.

The Smoking Gun finds in the indictment that Mehanna dropped by New York to visit Ground Zero, and that he and others were shown in a photograph at that location "with large grins and Mehanna has one finger up in the air." Also, in a conversation about the attacks, Mehanna suggested asking for "Allah's mercy on just the buildings, not the sinners that were in it as at least the buildings weren't sinners."

Mehannadidn't make a much better impression in court today, refusing at first to stand for the judge and, when his father urged him to comply, throwing his chair to the floor.
