"Hope," "Obey" Artist Shepard Fairey's Levi's Posters Hit Times Square

He may have been forced to admit this month that he did indeed use an AP photo as a source for his famous Obama "Hope" poster -- though he still argues that was fair use -- but L.A.'s Shepard Fairey still has a contract with Levi's to market his Obey clothing line, based on his other famous image, and last night put up a poster melange at the military recruiting island at Times Square to promote it. "His revolutionary work uniquely reflects the optimistic, pioneering spirit of the Levi's brand," says Levi's marketing VP Doug Sweeny. The Obey x Levi's collection consists of "eight essential menswear pieces that showcase fits, finishes, rips, patches and design details selected by Fairey," so it's classier than if you ripped and patched them yourself. You may buy them wherever such things are sold. Image PRNewsFoto/Levi Strauss.
