Lawyer Gets Off Light for Running Whorehouse, Still Faces Murder Plot Charge

A lawyer convicted of running a Manhattan brothel was sentenced today to time served. But Paul Bergrin, a former Essex County, New Jersey state prosecutor, is not out of the woods yet. In addition to taking over the New York Confidential joy house from one of his legal clients -- Jason Itzler, aka "King of the Pimps" -- and using its services to bribe Jersey law enforcement officials, Bergrin has been accused of conspiring to get a federal witness murdered , and will stand trial for murder, conspiracy and racketeering in Jersey. He remains in custody.
