Liz Krueger, NOW Demand Monserrate's Ouster

monserrateleftnew.jpgWe said yesterday Hiram Monserrate, having been convicted only of one misdemeanor rather than the felonies he had also been facing, was safe in his state senate seat, of which a felony conviction would have deprived him. Now it looks as if at least one senator may seek to deprive him anyway. Senator Liz Krueger of the Upper East Side wants him gone: "Only through speaking out can we work to prevent more violence, support survivors, end the stigma and fear that victims deal with," she says. "The Senate is exploring our institutional legal options now that the Courts have ruled... I believe Hiram Monserrate should not remain in the Senate."

NOW agrees with her. Anybody else?
