Today "with obscene gesture, Method Man brushes past photographers at court," says the Staten Island Advance. The member of Staten Island's Wu-Tang Clan was there to be arraigned for tax evasion. The Advance further reports MM "used an 'Ultimate X-Men' graphic novel to shield his face" as he entered Stapleton Criminal Court to answer charges that he failed to pay $32,799 in personal taxes owed the state between 2004 and 2007. Meanwhile at Manhattan Criminal Court, original Dipset member Jim Jones pleaded guilty and was sentenced to time served in an incident involving an "associate" of Ne-Yo, with whom Jones came to blows in front of Louis Vuitton on Fifth Avenue on December 22. Jones' lawyer had previously denounced the charges as a "setup for a civil suit" meant to line the accuser's pockets. Jones' brief detention after the fracas was felt by the court to be sufficient punishment.
