Fort Hood's Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan: Jihadi, Psycho, Both?

His cousin says he didn't want to be deployed to the war zones of Iraq or Afghanistan, and that Hasan believed "Muslims should stand up and fight against the aggressor" (meaning, it would seem, the United States), which suggests that the U.S. Army was a poor career choice...
Texas Senator Kay Hutchison says (without Army confirmation) that Hasan was scheduled to be deployed imminently. His former imam says he had been looking, without success, for a religiously observant Muslim wife; a former colleague says he reacted with "open glee at the death of some soldiers by a suicide bomber."
The Last Crusade finds that Hasan attended an Arab International Festival in Dearborn, Michigan this summer, where attendees "munched on rolled pita sandwiches, shawarma, tabouli, hummus and baklava," which Last Crusade finds dispositive of jihad. CNN has footage of Hasan in traditional Arab dress on the morning of the shooting, ordering hash browns and coffee at 6:20 a.m. About seven hours later he started shooting.
