After complaints during the campaign about their connection with Data and Field Services and related unfavorable press reports, the Working Families Party has retained the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom to "conduct a thorough review of the structure and relationship between the WFP, WFO and DFS," etc. The review will be led by Judith Kaye, the well-regarded former Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals, who was succeeded by Jonathan Lippman.

Lt. Michael W. Pigott was taken off duty last year pending an investigation of his order to use a taser on a disturbed man, which led to the man's death. Shortly thereafter Pigott committed suicide. His family, which previously indicated that it did not approve of the way NYPD handled things, is suing the city, whose treatment they believe led to Pigott's suicidal state.

A shooter rampaged in Orlando today, killing one, injuring 5. Jason Rodriguez, 40, a bankrupt ex-employee of the engineering firm he shot up, is in custody. Asked why he did it, Rodriguez said, "Because they left me to rot."

(Update: Pigott item corrected.)
