A year after a bus driver was stabbed to death in Bedford Stuyvesant, NYCTA is fitting 100 buses with transparent partitions protecting drivers from passengers. If the partitions hold up, more will be installed. Horace Moore, who allegedly killed driver Edwin Thomas, was scheduled for a pre-trial hearing today.

The grey lady is moving 28 New York Times News Service editing jobs in New York to a non-union New York Times Co. property in Florida. The Times also announced that at the end of the year, non-union employees would have their pension contributions discontinued and replaced with a 3% contribution to their 401k.

The judge in Joe Bruno's theft of honest services trial cleared the court yesterday and gave Bruno a verbal spanking for acting up at the defense table. U.S. District Judge Gary L. Sharpe told Bruno "For once in your life you don't control something, I do. You ever do what you just did in the presence of that jury again, which is question any of my rulings, I will take measures to make sure you don't repeat that. Do you understand me?''

Bruno replied, apparently rather sharply, that he did.
