Did you maybe hear that the new Twilight movie is out?

For those of you without teenagers who have managed to avoid the Twilight phenomenon, New Moon is the story of a winsome teenager, half in love with easeful death, who mourns the departure of her glittery bedheaded dead boyfriend with the mad impetuous passion of a chipmunk on methadone.

Meanwhile, the boy next door who loves her has bulked up into a shirtless piece of construction equipment who turns into a wolf when he gets pissed off, which he does a lot. She picks the suicidal dead guy.

You could go see that. On the other hand, not seeing it is completely free, and (if you don't have a teenager) will probably not involve teenagers.

If you prefer your foul creature of the darkness fix without visible hair product, the NYC Horror Film Festival is going on all weekend (various prices). Also, Frankenweenie is showing at the opening of the Tim Burton exhibit at MoMA on Sunday ($20, $16 seniors, kids up to 16 free). If you're going to be at MoMA anyway, check out the discreet horror of furry teacups at the Erotic Object surrealism exhibit.
