This Week in the Voice

New York's got some weird addresses. Heard about the Chinatown tenement at 81 Bowery where residents live in cubicles? It stinks of piss and fish paste, yet when it was closed briefly for fire violations, tenant fought to get back in. Maybe they just want to be near the Bowery Ballroom? Elizabeth Dwoskin explains.

Of course we were going to see it anyway but, like you, wanted to know what J. Hoberman thought about The Men Who Stare at Goats. He says... well, you just have to read it.

We had no intention of seeing that Michael Jackson passion play This Is It, but we don't mind reading Rob Harvilla on it.

Some people think the stark design of new restaurant SD26 is wonderfully modern. Sarah DeGregorio finds in it a "distinctly office-like chill." And she hasn't even gotten to the food yet...

Tom Robbins reviews the Anthony Seminiero tapes, in which the disgraced Queens Assemblyman sounds like a Scorsese character, and the Seminiero trial, in which he resembles a busted valise.

Michael Musto chats up Kerry Washington, Debi Mazar, HLN host Jane Velez-Mitchell, and other folks who are surprisingly glib and fun when Musto's taking notes.

Zach Baron finds 70s novelists reissued (Lore Segal, Rudolph Wurlitzer) and 70s youth revisited (Luc Sante). What a hook! Everyone likes the 70s!

Plus more in Art, Film, Theater, Music, Dance, Books, Restaurants, and Ask a Mexican, Free Will Astrology, Dan Savage, and the main course.
