Tiger Woods Hurt, Perhaps Badly, in Car Accident (Update: Woods Released in "Good Condition")

The initial report is that while Tiger Woods was pulling out of his driveway around 2 a.m. in Florida he hit a fire hydrant on the street and a tree on his neighbor's property.

Sounds unexciting -- his airbag didn't activate, so he is presumed to have been going less than 33 mph -- but apparently he is in "serious" condition at the hospital. His agent says he's fine. No other injuries reported.

Update: Woods has been released from the hospital in "good condition," sources tell ESPN.

Update 2: Late reports say Woods' wife "came out and broke the back window [of Woods' SUV] with a golf club" in order to extricate him from the wreck, which some internet commenters even at the lofty Wall Street Journal find suspicious, perhaps due to reports like this. Woods is said to have suffered facial lacerations, and to have been unconscious for six minutes.
