As part of Mayor Bloomberg's H1N1 flu plan for NYC, the Board of Health has opened vaccination centers this weekend in all five boroughs for middle school and high school students. Elementary school students above four years of age are also eligible for the free shots.

Fifty private companies, including Goldman Sachs and Citigroup, were provided by the city with supplies of the undersupplied government-funded vaccine for their employees ahead of the kids. Morgan Stanley donated theirs to a local hospital.

Thomas Frieden, director of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, asked state and local health departments Thursday to go over their distribution plans and make sure that high-risk groups are being targeted. Dr. Frieden expressed concern that the appearance of unfairness in the distribution of the vaccine has "the potential to undermine the credibility of the program."
