Bernie Madoff Moved to Prison Infirmary; Some Think He Was Beaten Up (Updated)

Categories: Featured
madoff.jpgConvicted Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff has been transferred to a prison medical facility and some reports say he has injuries consistent with a beating, though no authorities have made any admissions to that effect. He is allegedly to have broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and facial fractures.

The Wall Street Journal points out that Madoff was moved to the facility on the 18th, and that "other inmates seemed to respect him," with one calling him "the Godfather, the don"...

Madoff is 71 years old. Previous reports have had him beating up a fellow inmate and other unconfirmed, remarkable feats.

The Post makes merry of it, showing a Photoshopped image of Madoff with a black eye and a cartoon-style "X" bandage on its front page, though the injuries described would yield a far more gruesome result. This being the holiday season, we hope the reports are untrue and that he has a speedy recovery from whatever he's suffering from.

Update: A prison spokesman says there have been no assaults at Butner, where Madoff is incarcerated, in the past week. We expect the next dispatch will have Madoff smashing the window of the infirmary with a heavy object and running off into the night.
