Bloomberg III Begins
Mayor Bloomberg has signed the forms that make him Mayor for a third term. (Exciting video here!) WNYC reports that the fee for the filing, which had been 15 cents at his first swearing-in in 2001, is now $9. So, from his first official act, Bloomberg is building city revenue.
Tomorrow, when we're all too hung-over to pay attention, there will be an inauguration ceremony -- which will be "muted," says the Times, in consideration of the tough economic times, with no party and the Mayor paying for his own commemorative "biodegradable" mugs. Celebrities are said to be less likely to appear, and Bloomberg's mother, 101, is a definite no-show due to the expected rough weather, though a spokesman says the Mayor will see her the next day.
