Bloomberg: No snow day, but hey, cocoa and sleds!

Mayor Bloomberg announced this morning that although alternate side and trash pickup are canceled for tomorrow, school isn't. To make it up to the children of New York, the Parks Department is providing sleds and cocoa in all five boroughs (Crotona Park in the Bronx, Prospect Park in Brooklyn, Riverside Park in Manhattan, Lower Highland Park in Queens, and Clove Lakes Park in Staten Island).

Bloomberg, who is clearly concerned that the snow is going to slow down seasonal spending, is predicting that streets will be clear of snow by the end of the day. He suggested that New Yorkers try to buy hard-to-get tickets for Broadway shows, which may be available due to cancellations.
