Chuck Schumer Says "Bitch," Apologizes; Should Have Stepped, Thrown

Chuck Schumer's really getting into his gangsta lean. Having spit in defense of "the Jelly concerts" in Williamsburg, he is today reported to have called a flight attendant a bitch. He was even sitting next to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand at the time, that's how hard he rolls.

His charge was not made directly to the target. Schumer had allegedly argued with the attendant because she made him turn off his cell phone, on which he was yakking past the turn-off-all-devices warning, and muttered his reproval afterward to Gillibrand. A "House Republican aide" reported this to Politico, forcing Schumer to issue "regrets" via spokesman that he "made an off-the-cuff comment under his breath that he shouldn't have made."

The report has engendered the usual roars from the usual snores ("These liberals have such an arrogant sense of entitlement"), but we think Schumer should revise and extend his remarks, for which his statement leaves some wiggle room: He should tell the press that he was sorry he spoke "under his breath" to the lowly attendant, who was only implementing policy, when he should have gone off, stepped to the pilots -- or to the FAA, with whom he really had beef -- and invited them to throw. That would be mad gangsta, and increase his profile among constituencies not normally attentive to Washington politics.
