You know the holiday shopping season is in full gear when politicians step to the podium to rail against realistic-looking toy guns.

Council Speaker Christine Quinn is the one not being realistic. Get a grip, Quinn!

Or not. Only last month, an NYPD detective shot a teen in the face after he pulled a supposedly realistic-looking pellet gun.

We'd have another problem altogether if we were in Yemen, where the citizenry have about 60 million firearms, roughly three for every man, woman, and child. On the bright side, toy guns aren't as much of a problem there as they are here. Expecially at Christmas. Which they don't celebrate.
