Meanwhile a vote on the New York gay marriage bill is still stuck behind the budget deficit debate in the Albany queue. And in New Jersey, Democrats are pushing hard to get a gay marriage vote before the installation of Govenor-elect Chris Christie, who has promised to veto it. (Current Governor Jon Corzine says he'd sign it.) The traditional cowardice of state legislators suggests neither measure has much of a chance.
