Local Child Wins Prize in National Christmas Art Competition

Each year the Holy Childhood Association, a Catholic pontifical mission, holds a Christmas Artwork Contest in which children may submit holiday-related drawings and paintings, with the grand prize winner to grace the front of the Association's annual Christmas card, and the other winners' work to be made available as e-cards.

They got more than 10,000 entries, and one of this year's winners is a local girl, 5th grader Fanny Lei from the Transfiguration School down on Mott Street. Her manger scene, done in oil pastels, paint, and pencil, will be displayed at the National Shrine of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Washington. We congratulate Miss Lei and her family. Above is a detail; a larger rendering of her artwork appears after the jump.
