Lou Reed App Makes Your Stuffy Old iPhone Cool

louzoom.jpg
Thanks to Wired we now know that Lou Reed has an iPhone app. Designed by Reed and Ben Syverson, it takes the names from your contact list and puts them in various sizes of Helvetica Neue; tap one, and you get the contact's phone and other information, just like you normally would, except it's white type floating on a black background. "This contemporary take on classic Modernist design," says the web site, "turns heads as quickly as it dials phone numbers." And isn't that why you use an iPhone in the first place? (It's certainly not for the service.)

We'll wait for Tom Scholz to design one that makes you sound like Boston.
