New York Unemployment Goes Down, a Little!

appledepressionleft.jpgHooray, recession over! New York City unemployment went down point-three percent in November. It had been 10.3 percent, and is now a flat 10. And New York State unemployment dropped too -- from 9.0 to 8.6.

This is from state Department of Labor seasonally adjusted private sector job numbers. We've been hearing a lot of happy-clappy about the economy lately, even in staffing projections, and now the state comptroller is saying that the budget deficit isn't as bad as he thought. We tend to discount such pep talks, but in this depressing holiday season we'll take what we can get. Green jobs for everyone!
