SAG Award Nominations Heat Up Movie Prize Fever

There are few surprises in the film categories: Jeff Bridges (pictured, Crazy Heart), Colin Firth (A Single Man), George Clooney, Vera Farmiga, and Anna Kendrick (Up in the Air), Gabourey Sidibe and Mo'Nique (Precious), Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds), Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon (Invictus), Christopher Plummer and Helen Mirren (The Last Station), et alia, have also been noted by other prize-givers, and their names will continue to swirl in Academy Award speculation.
Less-laureled performers making the SAG cut include Carey Mulligan, up for Best Actress for An Education, Jeremy Renner, up for Best Actor for The Hurt Locker, and supporting players Woody Harrelson (The Messenger), Penelope Cruz (Nine), and Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds).
Nominees for SAG's unique "ensemble" award for full casts are An Education, Nine, Inglourious Basterds, The Hurt Locker, and Precious. SAG also gives awards for stunt ensembles, for which the fall and flip artists of Star Trek, Public Enemies, and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen are up.
TV nominees are also mostly unsurprising, unless you count strident self-representer Larry David (Curb Your Enthusiasm).
Beloved, salty comedienne Betty White will be given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the presentation on January 23rd.
