Yoko cabs hit the streets in January

Show Media, the company which pioneered taxi-top ads, will be installing small rectangular art installations, including one by Fluxus artist and Beatles widow Yoko Ono, on the roofs of 500 New York cabs in January. Ono's is a version of her War Is Over poster in sign language and text.

Artists Ono, Shirin Neshat, and Alex Katz were chosen for the Art Adds (yes, it's meant to be a pun) program by Yvonne Force Villareal and Doreen Remen of the Art Production Fund.
Owner John Amato says that the Art Adds program will cost his company $100k in lost revenue, although he probably would have cut his rates otherwise to allow for slackened demand in January.
