Bloomberg Tags Up

bloombergtags.jpg
Our colleague Zach Baron alerts us to an incident in which Mayor Bloomberg defined deviancy down: On a New Year's visit to youth development center The Point CDC in The Bronx, Bloomberg tagged a graffiti canvas with his signature.

A nice gesture and certainly legal, since he didn't do it right on the wall, but what kind of message does this send to our young people about the scourge of graffiti? First they're doing it on canvas; next thing you know, they're moving on to trains and rap video sets. Rudolph Giuliani would certainly have scolded the artist for setting a bad example, if he didn't jail him.

Between this and the atheists, it's looks like we're in for a New '70s. How long before High School for the Performing Arts students start blocking traffic again?
