David Blaine Turning Tricks in Times Square
Magician David Blaine will be busking in Times Square for the next three days near the Army Recruitment Center. With a slightly more explicable goal in mind than the last time he appeared in Times Square, Blaine will be performing tricks around the clock to raise money for the American Red Cross‚ Haitian aid efforts. Blaine tells the Daily News that people can donate "whatever they want" as he gives the Naked Cowboy a run for his money in soliciting whatever New Yorkers will pay to watch him perform.
Just up the street, the FBI will be debuting a 40-foot display screen, showcasing a "rogues' gallery of the most-wanted murderers, rapists, bank robbers, drug dealers and Wall Street scammers." The FBI insists the display, "strategically positioned near the TKTS booth at 47th Street," is not simply an attempt to scare the hell out of tourists while they wait to buy half-price tickets to "Bye Bye Birdie." Rather, an FBI spokesman tells the Post, "There is no better place to advertise because there are people from all over the world."
