Former Nets star Jayson Williams today to pleaded guilty to shooting and killing his limo driver in 2002. The charge in this case is aggravated assault, rather than the reckless manslaughter charge on which he faced retrial after a jury deadlocked on it in 2004.

Williams has had a busy week, having cracked up his car and been arrested for drunk driving on Tuesday.

Williams faces a minimum sentence of 18 months for the death of Costas "Gus" Christofi. Sentencing is scheduled for February 23; Williams is out on bail till then; no telling what he might get up to in the meantime.

Ward Harkavy considered the NBA plague of run-and-gun offenses here last week.
