Somebody Got Murdered: Cops Want Public Help in Solving 2009 Brighton Beach Slaying

DATE: March 14, 2009 at 2:30 p.m.
LOCATION: Inside a parking garage at 149 Brighton 11th St., Brighton Beach, Brooklyn.

In what is a relatively unusual event, the NYPD is asking the public's help to solve a murder dating back to March of last year.

The victim, Vlad Tolstykh, 35, of Ocean Ave., was robbed of two watches and fatally beaten in the above parking garage by two men in hoods. He died later at Coney Island Hospital.

Tolstykh, the owner of the Brighton Bazaar supermarket, had just pulled into the garage when the assault took place. The cops are offering a $32,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of his killers, including a donation of $20,000 from his family.
