Terror Suspect Crashes on Whitestone Expressway (Update: Two Arrested)

Last night the FBI raided the home and seized the passport of Bosnian immigrant Adis Medunjanin; later, police arrested him when he got into a crack-up on the Whitestone Expressway.

Medunjanin had been questioned in connection with the doings of Najibullah Zazi, the alleged prospective beauty-product bomber indicted in September after police raids in Queens based on the Colorado shuttle-driver's suspected terrorist status. During a Thursday raid on his Flushing home, FBI agents seized his passport.

(Update: Also arrested this morning: Zarein Ahmedzay, a local cabbie who had been questioned along with Medunjanin in connection with the Zazi case.)

Medunjanin afterward drove away, and "law enforcement sources" say Medunjanin rear-ended another car on the Expressway. Police picked him up, but no charges have been filed at this writing.

NBC says Medunjanin made a "rambling statement" to 911 shortly before the crash.

Medunjanin was said to have travelled with Zazi to Pakistan last year. He went to Flushing High School and played football on its team, then graduated from Queens College with a major in economics. A fellow member of the Queens College Muslim Student Association said Medunjanin was "very religious." His lawyer maintains Medunjanin has no connection with terrorism.
