After months of fundraising, Detroit-born photographer Gregory Holm and architect Matthew Radune, both of Brooklyn, unveiled an abandoned house on the east side of Detroit completely coated in ice today.

Ice House Detroit was planned to draw attention to the mortgage foreclosure crisis.

Holm and Radune acquired the house at 3920 McClellan from the Michigan State Land Bank in exchange for paying back taxes on another foreclosed home so a local woman could move into it.

They raised $11,000 to pay for the project online. They plan to recycle the materials from the house in the spring and donate the land to urban farmers.
