Rebecca Taylor Packs The Tents; Tony Cohen Goes Space-Age

It's rare to see people walk out of a fashion show, but that is indeed what happened at Rebecca Taylor--but only because the Salon tent in Bryant Park was so overcrowded Sunday afternoon that even those standing couldn't see a thing.

We're pretty sure the reason so many came out in droves to witness Taylor's Fall 2010 Collection was the stunning line she presented last season that was filled with flowery short skirts and a ton of playful color. The New Zealand-born designer obviously got the attention of young Hollywood, as several starlets adorned the front row.

The City's Whitney Port, a designer as well that has been making the rounds during Fashion Week, was in attendance along socialite Olivia Palermo, Carmen Electra, actresses Sophia Bush, Michelle Trachtenberg, Kristen Bell, and Shenae Grimes who arrived beyond fashionably late.

This season we were very curious to see what Taylor would feature in her fall collection pattern and color-wise, as she is prone to use pinks, blues and playful cuts. Taylor did not disappoint. She beautifully blended autumn tones with animal prints, bold stripes, and subtle touches of blue flowers atop black dresses and skirts. The use of texture, as we saw throughout in soft brown knitted sweaters and scarves were also divine.

Later that day we saw Tony Cohen's Fall Collection, which was a complete 180 from Taylor's feminine wear. Cohen, who has a similar aesthetic as that of designer Erin Fetherston, was on a different planet--not necessarily a bad thing, but his space-age dresses were semi-problematic for some of the models who just couldn't get the gowns on.

Cohen's line, made up of mostly black, grey and silver tones, consisted of dresses draping around the body giving it a layered look, making them at times look sort of complicated. Though Cohen had a unifying sensibility, and unique one at that, he could have gone more of a straightforward route.
