HBO to Recreate New Orleans' Ninth Ward in Greenpoint (Correction: Not Really)

hbopoint.jpg
Nice catch, Miss Heather: Hollywood's been doing a lot of filming up in Greenpoint, either using McGolrick Park for, uh, park scenes or building sets there, like the Olde Atlantic City scenes Martin Scorsese recreated for HBO's Boardwalk Empire. But in a chunk of deepest Pernt, on Meserole Avenue and Jewel and Moultrie Streets, a production notice says, HBO will this weekend film scenes for Treme -- "the heartwarming story of the residents of New Orleans Ninth Ward attempting to rebuild their lives after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina."

Don't jump to conclusions about HBO's assessment of the nabe, though -- that's right near some sound stages. And maybe you'll see Khandi Alexander at Cafe Grumpy!

Update: Not really. See here.
