The Newspaper Rack Victory: One Small Step for Print, One Giant Leap for Spare Change

The U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Va., ruled today that the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority is violating the first amendment when they take newspaper racks out of airports, despite their argument that the racks were security threats, traffic impediments, and a significant reduction in revenue to the airport. The newspapers challenging the Airport Authority's ban were the Durham Herald-Sun, the New York Times, USA Today, and the Raleigh News & Observer. Awesome. Now if only we could solve the problem of people needing spare change to buy those newspapers, people not reading newspapers, airports being entirely inefficient, and how to sneak a VVM property in there, we'd be golden. Until then, all we have is a stupid "nice rack" joke for the next time we go to Raleigh. [AAIND]
