Update: Greenpoint Locale for New Orleans Series Will Not Stand in for New Orleans
An HBO spokesman has helpfully informed us that the Greenpoint locations used for their upcoming Treme, about Katrina survivors in New Orleans' Ninth Ward, will not stand in for New Orleans -- though we had suggested otherwise.
"The scenes being filmed in Greenpoint are actually scenes that are set in New York, NOT New Orleans," says HBO's Jon Tuminski. "All New Orleans-based scenes are being shot on location in Louisiana."
We apologize especially to our commenters Wrong Again and Snarl, who seemed particularly disturbed by the error, doubtless out a high regard for journalistic integrity.
