96th Street Station Gets a Partial Reveal

DSC_4931.jpg
Upper West Siders and those who occasionally venture to the Upper West Side under threat of disownment will rejoice on this sunny Monday because the new 96th Street station building -- located in the Broadway median between 95th and 96th Streets -- is now open for business (namely, taking the 1, 2, or 3 train).

The new building allows riders to access the subway platforms more directly, and from pictures, it looks really shiny and pretty and new -- and witness how much fun those people in suits are all having!

The station will be fully renovated come September, at which point this new station building will probably look as decrepit as a worn-out old V train, which, of course, won't even be running anymore by then (sob). Sometimes we're sentimental, it turns out.
