Allergy Season "Wicked Bad" This Year

If you're planning on a frolic in a field of flowers, bring along some Kleenex.
If your eyes are all red and swollen and scratchy and you're feeling generally like you got hit by a truck, or maybe a large, blooming plant of some sort, it's not because you drank too many glasses of the good stuff this weekend, folks. It's allergy time, and the pollen forecast for New York City is officially VERY HIGH.

In fact, 2010 is reported to be a "monster of an allergy season" throughout the U.S., with "allergy" and "pollen" even trending on Twitter, probably because people with allergies are all staying inside next to their computers and Tweeting incessantly.

"It's wicked bad this year," said Dr. Mona Mangat, an allergy specialist in St. Petersburg, Florida, soothing our allergy woes temporarily with her delightful syntax.

This means that if you are not an allergy sufferer (and maybe you did drink too many glasses of whatever you use to soothe your soul sip occasionally for medicinal purposes only), you can blame the red eyes and general fatigue -- aka, falling asleep at your computer -- on the insane pollen levels. And absolutely no one will know the better. Not that we would ever do that ourselves.
