Butler's Hayward Missed Last Night, But, Oh, What Might Have Been!

BasketballLogo.jpg
Butler's Gordon Hayward narrowly missed a last-second shot against Duke last night, but he's made big shots before. See the videos after the jump, and imagine a mid-major team actually beating basketball royalty!

With 3.6 seconds left, Hayward rebounded the ball and drove down the right side, got a bone-crushing pick from teammate Matt Howard that flattened Duke's Kyle Singler, and launched a rainbow from half-court off one leg. The shot hit the backboard, the rim, and caromed off, one inch separating Butler from the NCAA national championship. Final score: Duke 61, Butler, 59.

Back in 2008, in the Indiana state high school championship game, Hayward nailed a short jumper at the buzzer to give his Brownsburg team the title 40-39 over Marion High School. (He's number 20.)
