It took just over two years, but the police have arrested a man sought in the 2008 slaying of 19-year-old Daniel Wallace of Unionport Road in the Bronx.

NYPD detectives and folks with the Las Vegas Police Department and the U.S. Marshals arrested Joseph Roman, 21, for shooting Wallace three times in the chest. Wallace died at Jacobi Medical Center.

The folks at DCPI didn't know much more than that, but there's a lot more on America's Most Wanted, which claimed credit to tipping off cops to Roman's whereabouts.

Interestingly, the case detective, Kenny Kearns, not only knew Roman as a worker in his family's McDonald's, but had tried to keep him on the straight and narrow.

Roman won a basketball scholarship to Dominican College, but dropped out and returned to the Bronx to run with gangs. In March, 2008, Roman attacked Wallace in the street. Wallace went home, got a hammer, and attacked Roman. Roman went and got a gun and shot Wallace.

He fled the city, landing in Chester, Penn., where he worked at a Metro PCS store and lived under the alias, Jason Mendez, while on the lam. Cops found out, but by then, he had fled. They finally found him in Las Vegas, and there the trail ended.
