Morning Links: Advice on Befriending Aliens, Boobquake Day, More About the Stolen iPhone
It's Monday morning. Here's what you should know:
• Stephen Hawking warns us not to become friends with aliens, because "they very likely wouldn't be the cuddly, ET types we hope for." Noted.
• Mayor Bloomberg says his life in Bermuda (where he owns a waterfront estate and vacations about twice a month) is none of New Yorkers' business.
• Today is "Boobquake Day" (dubbed so by Purdue University senior Jennifer McCreight ), time to prove to Iranian clerics and other modesty enthusiasts that showing skin does not actually incite earthquakes or other natural disasters. We don't think. More than 50,000 women are expected to join the "movement."
• Gawker's Nick Denton paid approximately $20,000 for the iPhone scoop (cost plus legal fees plus bandwidth), which brought Gizmodo 3.6 million unique visitors.
• Someone threw a brick through the new Shepard Fairey mural on Houston. Meanwhile, Fairey disses on Obama's White House performance thus far. Apparently it's not up to mural standards.
• More than 236,000 New Yorkers are riding their bikes every day. Good for us!
